The KJV Store Reader's Edition Bible with Sacred Syntax™ solves a 400 year old dilemma by applying the most poetic setting and visual system to the world’s most poetic biblical language, the text of the King James Bible.

The King James Version has long been considered the most poetic English bible translation, yet it has historically appeared in the least poetic layout and presentation on the page.  The KJV Store Reader's Edition Bible with Sacred Syntax™ seeks to present the majestic language of the KJV in a way that highlights it's natural beauty.  This includes several special formats with visual cues, designed to help the distracted reader.  These special formats help the reader identify the various types of content, and keep the page from becoming a "sea of text". This patented system of special formatting designed specifically for "reading" in the KJV Reader's Edition is known as Sacred Syntax™.

Sacred Syntax™ is a harmonious mix of scripture's poetic indents, numbered lists, parables, and arrowed endings that capture the heart of prayer and prophecy.

- “Sacred” means "connected with God, and dedicated to a religious purpose."
- “Syntax” means "the arrangement of words and phrases to create well-formed sentences in language, and a set of rules for or an analysis of language."

Sacred Syntax™ connects the reader to God through the special formatting of His Word, and the Reader’s Edition’s poetic setting merely scratches the surface of the spiritual treasures with which the reader will be edified.

Sacred Syntax™ Special Formatting and Visual Cues include:

  • Verse Numbers
Verse numbers appear in the inner margins. Rather than marking the verse with a symbol, we've added space before each verse, including at the beginning of the line, to keep the reading experience smooth. To find any verse, scan the inner margin for the verse number and then look for the extra space on that line.
  • Drop Capital Letters
Drop caps adorn the first word of each chapter.  If the first line is poetry, the drop cap takes up three lines.

For all other lines, the drop cap takes four lines.
  • Section Headings
Headings identify the main point of a section. They're not part of the text, and are only meant for informational purposes.
There are two types of headings:
    - Black Text - Headings in black are a larger print and identify major sections.
    - Red Text - Headings in red are a smaller print and identify minor sections within the larger sections.
  • Page Information
Page numbers, book names, and chapter numbers appear at the bottom of the page.  This is meant to reflect the beautiful artwork that is the bible, with the artist's name and artwork's title presented at the bottom of the page.

  • Red Letter
This is a red-letter edition bible to identify the words of Christ.
  • SPECIAL FORMATS:
Just like the original KJV, this edition was designed with public reading in mind.  To aid in this reading, we have intentionally identified compelling types of text that should stand apart in Scripture, including:
  • Old Testament and New Testament Quotes
All Quotes are in semi-bold type.  They include:
    - Phrases in the Old Testament quoted in the New Testament
    - Phrases in the New Testament quoted from the Old Testament
This lets the reader see how both testaments are interlinked and how they reference each other as Scripture frequently, which supports the belief that the bible is one unified text made up of 66 individual books.  There is also an index in the back that lists every quote, for quick reference to where something is being quoted from.
  • Poetry
Poetry is indented by 12 mm and has a ragged right edge.  Poetry does not wrap to the next line.  Where possible, poetry is broken into lines that are meant to be read aloud.
  • Lists (LI)
Lists are indented 6 mm.  If they wrap to the second line, they're indented another 6 mm.  The ragged lines are balanced.  Lists are labeled with "LI."
  • Personal Letters (LE)
These are letters written from one person to another.  They're indented 3 mm and have a ragged right edge.  Letters are labeled with "LE".
  • Prayers (PR)
Prayers are indented 6 mm from both sides and have a ragged right edge.  Only the actual prayers are formatted.  Just a mention of a prayer is not formatted.  Prayers are labeled with "PR".
  • Parables (PA)
Parables are indented 9 mm from the right and are justified. The first line of the parable is indented 12 mm. Parables are labeled with "PA".
  • Dreams (DR)
Dreams are indented 6 mm from both sides and centered. This produces a cloud design.  We've only formatted the dreams that show details rather than just the mention of a dream.  Dreams are labeled with "DR".
  • Visions (VI)
Visions are indented with 3 mm for the first line, and 6 mm from both sides and justified. We took some liberties with visions.  For example, most of Revelation is a vision, but if we marked all of it, then prayers, lists, and poetry wouldn't stand out.  We thought it was best to focus on formats that stood out and mark visions where we could.  Visions are labeled with "VI."
  • End of Book Taper (Arrow Head Book Endings)
Each book of the bible ends with an Arrow Head design that tapers to a point.  This aesthetic is an ode to early English bible designs such as the Geneva, and now perfectly compliments the King James Version.

The KJV Reader's Edition Dream Team
The KJV Store Reader's Edition Bible with Sacred Syntax™ was conceptually designed and edited by Randy A. Brown of the Bible Buying Guide.  The text was expertly typeset and crafted in Denmark by award-winning design firm 2K/Denmark.  Proofreading and editing services were provided by Peachtree Publishing Services.  While the finished product was printed and bound in the Netherlands by the expert craftsmen and women at Royal Jongbloed, considered by many to be the finest bible bindery in the world.  Lastly, final King James Version textual approval was given to Len Williams, founder and president of The KJV Store, in an attempt to provide the most accurate KJV text ever published.

The result is a Bible designed not just to be read, but to be lived with—a reflection of the KJV’s timeless authority through a cutting-edge design that supports both readability and devotion.

"It communicates to the reader that not everything is the same." - Randy Brown

"We are born talkers, we are born listeners, but we are not born readers." - Klaus Krogh

"Publishing is a delicate balance of craftsmanship and engineering that is more balance than art." - Raoul Devos

"Just like Nicodemus in John 3, I believed the KJV could be born again." - Len Williams

Genuine Leather-Lined "Lined to the Edge" Binding

This unique style of binding offers the utmost flexibility, thus allowing your Bible to withstand years of continuous use. The “Genuine Leather-Lined” binding combined with Smyth-Sewn pages set this bible apart in terms of flexibility and durability.

The binding also features a rounded spine, with Gold Art Gilt page edges and rounded corners, as well as an Oxford hollow for the ultimate in "Lay Flat" design.  This leather-lined edge-lined style, with it's generous full yapp cover (that protects and covers the page edges when closed), is the most complex and labor-intensive bible binding technique in the world.
