The 1611 Edition KJV Bible - 400th Anniversary Edition truly is a special Bible for collectors, for students, and for everyone who cherishes the King James Version. The 1611 Edition KJV Bible is a symbol of truth, beauty, and accuracy, and is the standard by which all English bibles should be measured.

Celebrating the 400th Anniversary of the 1611 King James Version Bible
The Authorized Version of the Bible - popularly known as the King James Version - was first printed in 1611. It set the standard by which all subsequent English Bible translations have been measured. Translation of the King James Version was a monumental task, one undertaken by a 47-member committee of biblical scholars. For over 400 years, the Authorized Version of the Bible, popularly known as the King James Version, has been beloved for its majestic phrasing and stately cadences. No other book has so profoundly influenced our language and our theology.

Over time, however, the text has suffered subtle and occasionally troublesome alterations. This attractive edition preserves the original 1611 edition. Word for word, page for page, and letter for letter, the text with its original marginal notes, preface (The Translators to the Reader), and other introductory material appear as they first did. The sole concession to modernity is a far more readable roman typeface set by nineteenth-century master printers. Elegantly bound with old-world quality craftsmanship, this is the perfect edition of the incomparable King James Version for study and for sheer enjoyment.

Significance for The KJV Store

Casual use of the year and term "1611" when referring to the KJV Bible is actually a common misnomer and misuse that warrants clarification and distinction.

Finally, everyone can own an affordable copy of the "1611 Edition KJV Bible", that will clarify the meaning of the term "1611 KJV" once and for all. If you want a truly original "1611" KJV reprint, with ORIGINAL 1611 SPELLINGS, APOCRYPHA, TRANSLATOR'S PREFACE and all......then you found it. We'll warn you now, it Looks quite different than any KJV Bible you are currently reading. The 1611 edition takes some getting used to, but will help to assure any KJV Bible reader of the power and authenticity of the KJV Bible that we still use today. It will help to show that no doctrinal changes have ever been made to the King James Bible, the words themselves in meaning and sound remain the same as they were in the year 1611.

1611 Spelling Examples
View the page sample images above to see samples from the Old Testament, Apocrypha, and New Testament. Pay close attention to the way some of the words are spelled, "Heaven" as "Heauen" in Genesis 1:1, "form" as "forme", "void" as "voyd", "upon" as "vpon", and "deep" as "deepe" in Genesis 1:2. Notice the absence of the letter "J", in that the name of "Jesus" is spelled "Iesus" in Matthew 2:1. These are subtle, but historically accurate details and signs that this is an original 1611 Edition KJV Bible, and merely "scratch the surface" of the treasures and distinctions to be found in this collector's edition 1611 KJV Bible from Hendrickson.
