Measuring the exact size of the original 1611 printing: an enormous 17-1/2 inches tall by 12 inches wide by 5-1/2 inches thick (including its slipcase), with "Open" reading dimensions spread to nearly 30 Inches (when measured corner to corner), and weighing almost 30 pounds, so much it nearly takes two people to comfortably move it, this is the finest reproduction of the 1611 ever undertaken. Unlike other facsimiles, the Deluxe and Super Deluxe Editions are printed on 100% acid-free, archival grade, heavy cream paper, just like the original 1611. The originals that were actually printed in 1611 were commissioned by King James I to be literally chained to the pulpit of every church in England. Now you can own a facsimile replica of that exact same bible.
These massive pulpit folio-sized bibles make a great centerpiece for the communion table or the entry-way in a church. They are also quite popular as centerpieces for private home libraries. If you are looking for something that will make people stop and stare, this is it! Photographs cannot adequately show what a stunning and magnificent display piece these enormous folios are. Significance of the Deluxe “Facsimile”
Do not confuse these amazing photographic deluxe facsimiles with the small, inexpensive, "reprints" or with the smaller “Regular Size” Facsimile that we also offer. The popular Hendrickson "1611 Edition" mass-marketed Bible, for example, is NOT a true facsimile (nor do they claim it is). It is a totally new type setting in a more semi-modern Roman Style Type Face without the original woodcut decorative accents or beautiful Gothic Blackletter Style Typeface found in the original 1611 KJV.
Such reprints may maintain the ancient spellings, as well as the inclusion of the Apocrypha, but they do not LOOK exactly the same as an original 1611. Similarly, the smaller “Regular Facsimile” may “look” the same photographically as an original 1611 KJV, but it does not maintain the massive size of the original First Edition 1611 King James Bible as only the Deluxe Facsimile can claim.
Each page of THIS Deluxe Facsimile (or “Photocopied”) edition was computer-scanned from an original First Edition 1611 KJV, and maintained at the same original size, THEN printed on 100% acid-free, archival grade, heavy cream paper, just like the original 1611.
Deluxe Edition - "Bufalino Fiscagomma" Imitation Leather
The standard “Deluxe” Edition is bound in a high-quality beautifully grained imitation leather, often referred to as "Fiscagomma Leatherette" or "Bufalino Fiscagomma". The Deluxe Edition features the same size and weight as the Super Deluxe Edition. It is also the only 1611 Facsimile Edition to feature the Coat of Arms Seal of King James blind stamped on the cover.
Super Deluxe Edition - Genuine Cowhide Leather
The “Super Deluxe” is bound in the finest grade of full-grain, glove-soft, hand-tooled, exquisite genuine leather, wrapped over furniture-grade birch wood board, with extra-large spine hub-bands and gold spine stamping. The Smyth-Sewn binding also features extra heavy-duty stitching. No detail was overlooked or spared in the creation of this bible. It's just like the real ones, visually IDENTICAL to an original 1611, except that it is absolutely brand new, and less than one-half-of-one-percent the cost of the last 1611 sold at auction.
