Description

The BRG Bible® (Blue Red and Gold Letter Edition) New Testament is presented to a world readership with the purpose of uniting all believers into God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit.  The Authorized Version of the King James Bible has been preserved in this publishing with only the three colors added for emphasis to the Scriptures passed down to us since the year 1611.

BLUE - WORDS OF GOD
RED - WORDS OF CHRIST
GOLD - NAME OF HOLY SPIRIT

Since the King James Bible has no quotation marks, and only commas are used to identify who is speaking, the three colors have been overlayed on the black print to set apart the distinct dialogue of God as the Father and Jesus as the Son and to recognize the name of the Holy Spirit (Holy Ghost) and His actions on behalf of people.

Additionally, the words of angels and divine beings speaking for themselves receive a blue underline to highlight their dialogue as messengers of God.

EXAMPLES OF APPLIED COLORS AND UNDERLINING:

God the Father is Speaking
17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. (Matthew 3:17)

Jesus the Son is Speaking
15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfill all righteousness.  Then he suffered him. (Matthew 3:15)

The Holy Spirit is Acting
16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him. (Matthew 3:16)

The angel Gabriel is Speaking
28 And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. (Luke 1:28)

EXPLANATION FOR THE COLORS CHOSEN:
In 1899, Louse Klopsch set about marking the words of Jesus Christ in red for the King James Bible.  His purpose was to give additional clarity and understanding to the everyday reader of the Holy Scriptures.  The color he chose was red, and so the "Red Letter Edition" of the Bible came to be by the year 1901.  Red, the color of blood, was the right color to highlight the words of Jesus, and how much the world has been blesssed by this choice will never be known.  Red is retained here for the words of Christ.

Heaven is God's throne, and the heavens are seen as azure blue.  By water, God created the heavens and the earth, and water is seen in the color blue.  Thus, God's spoken, quotable words are rendered here in blue.

The Holy Spirit has inspired all of Scripture.  By the fire of the Spirit, both the Old and New Testaments, as well as the old and new covenants, have been delivered to humankind.  Through the fire of the burning bush and through tongues of fire on the heads of the apostles, the Creator imparted law by the Spirit to His creatures.  By fire will the earth and the heavens, as we know them, be changed from the temporal to the eternal.  As one of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit's name (and all references to His name) are rendered here in the color gold.

The color of light is indeed fascinating, and God created light on the first day.  The colors of blue, red, and gold are considered primary colors of light - meaning that all colors are derived in some way from the combination of these three.  God selected these colors for His tabernacle in the days of Moses (Exodus 26). The colors were blue, red, and gold (as well as a fourth color, purple).  Furthermore, in Revelation 9, at the sounding of the sixth trumpet, John describes the colors that God selected for the breastplates of the 200 million mounted troops as blue, red, and gold.

And so the BRG Bible® (blue, red, and gold) has come into existence as a tool for reading and understanding Scripture.  Just as the red letter edition of the Bible has blessed readers, we believe the BRG Bible will bless all readers as we give recognition to the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (or Holy Ghost) using the primary colors of light that God Himself created for humans and for life.

BACKGROUND:
Collaboration on this work has spanned ten years with several accomplished Bible editors from major Bible publishers in the United States.  Given what the semantics of the Scripture text allows, all care was taken to be as objective as possible in applying color.  In doing so, many other versions were consulted, including Greek and Hebrew texts for difficult passages.
