The Chinese Union Version (CUV) is the predominant translation of the Bible into Chinese used by Chinese Protestants, first published in 1919.
Simplified Chinese Text - Under the Communist Government, the traditional way for writing Chinese characters was changed through simplification. Mainland Chinese are now used to thier simplified system. Chinese who are not Mainland Chinese should be given books in traditional Chinese.
Note: The Simplified Script is used by persons educated in mainland China, regardless of the variety of Chinese they speak (Mandarin or Cantonese). Chinese characters are ideograms rather than phonograms.
